Subcommittees
Lived, Loved, Laboured, Learned

Brains Trust
The CORE-BD Brains Trust provides input into the governance and research priorities of CORE-BD and are active partners in all activities. The Brains Trust comprises people with lived and loved experience as well as representatives from community-based advocacy organisations who speak from the experience of the broader bipolar community. Members of this committee guide research direction, co-design, implementation, translation of findings, communications strategies, and are participants and leaders in CORE-BD’s community, clinical, and academic activities.
Student Network
Our student network comprises Honours, Masters, PhD, and Doctoral candidates who are undertaking research on the early stages of bipolar. We welcome students across disciplines, institutions, and countries. Monthly catch-ups via Zoom provide opportunities for peer support, collaboration (publications, grants, and conference participation), professional development, journal club, and sharing of resources.

Early-mid Career Researcher Committee
The CORE-BD Early-and Mid-Career Researcher (EMCR) Committe serves an EMCR network and connects EMCRs with mentors to provide them with access to support, guidance, and expertise, and enhance their professional development and career progression. Annual symposia and other activities will be held to connect our EMCRs and showcase their work.
Education Committee
The CORE-BD Education Committee is focused on workforce capacity building and the development of innovative ways to enhance clinical training in bipolar across a range of disciplines including general practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other allied healthcare providers. Regular workshops on diagnosis and treatment of bipolar will be available to clinical students and practitioners.

Clinical and Academic Translation Committee
The aim of the Clinical and Academic Translation Committee is to foster connections with clinical and research experts. Roles include: (i) the development of a research dissemination plan; (ii) working with clinical services on the implementation of interventions; and (iii) overseeing an annual CORE-BD symposium.
Policy Think Tank
The CORE-BD Policy Think Tank will capitalise upon the clinical and research expertise of CORE-BD team members to drive investment from government with respect to the establishment of a clinical trial network, ensure dissemination of resources such as new guidelines on early assessment and identification, making decision tools available, and supporting training roll out. CORE-BD’s economic research will strengthen discussions with government.

Youth and Young Adult Advisory Group
Active participation of youth and young adults is crucial to help shape research focused on early intervention for bipolar. CORE-BD supports a Youth and Young Adult Advisory Group who can be engaged by researchers and services nationally for consultation and co-design.
