CORE-BD Welcomes a New Postdoctoral Research Fellow

CORE-BD is delighted to welcome Rebecca Fitton, who will be joining us in November as a postdoctoral research fellow. Bec will be working across the CORE-BD teams at Monash, Swinburne, and the University of Sydney, undertaking research to address key questions about the chronobiology of bipolar.

Bec brings a research background focused on light, circadian rhythms, and psychiatric medication for the treatment of mood disorders and an impressive record of recent achievements. At the 2025 Australian Chronobiology Society Meeting, she received the Best Presentation Award and the Research Excellence Award for her presentation titled “Melanopsin-mediated pupillary responses, manic symptoms, and mood stabilisers in patients with bipolar disorder”. She was also recognised at the 2025 European Biological Rhythms Society Congress, winning the Best Short Talk Prize for her presentation “Evening light reduction for improving depressive and insomnia symptoms in people taking an SSRI”.

Outside of research, Bec enjoys running, reading, reformer pilates, and spending time with her Siberian cat, Rupert!

We are thrilled to have Bec join the CORE-BD community and look forward to her valuable contributions!
