The Centre of Research Excellence in
Bipolar Disorder
CORE-BD
CORE-BD is an Australian Centre of Research Excellence that was established in 2023 after being awarded a grant from the National Health and Medical Research Council

Closing the Treatment Gap
Bipolar affects one in 50 Australians, with onset typically occurring during late
adolescence or early adulthood. Despite significant progress and investment in early intervention for other mental health conditions, people with bipolar often experience delays of many years in getting a diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
Improving Bipolar Care
Bipolar is one of the leading causes of burden in adolescents and young adults. There is a clear and urgent need for:

Lived, Loved, Laboured, Learned
CORE-BD brings together a world-class multidisciplinary team including researchers, clinicians, mental health advocates, health economists, policy makers, community, caregivers, family members, and most importantly people with lived experience to work towards improving the
care and wellbeing of people with bipolar.
Our Team are Committed to:
Empowering Future Researchers
We offer a range of opportunities for research students and early career researchers to
study or work with us.
Join us in our mission to advance early intervention and help improve the lives of people with bipolar.
